Description: Usually set (with only the first four stanzas) to the tune Grosser Gott, this setting of all eight stanzas of Clarence A. Walworth's translation of Grosser Gott, wir loben dich (with stanza 7 by Hugh Thomas Henry) of the Te Deum is set to the triple meter of the composer's tune tRasmus (for stanzas 1—4 & 7—8) and O'Connell (for stanzas 5—6). A through-composed descant for the 4th & 8th stanzas is provided, and an alternate descant using the Alto part sung up an octave is appropriate for the 2nd & 6th stanzas (both tunes were harmonized so that this procedure works well).
