Non vedrò mai le stelle
de’ bei celesti giri,
perfida, ch’io non miri
gli occhi che fur presenti
alla dura cagion de’ miei tormenti,
e ch’io non dica lor: o luci belle,
deh siate sì rubelle
di lume a chi ribella è sì di fede,
ch’anzi a tant’occhi e tanti lumi ha core
tradire amante sotto fe’ d’amore.

I’ll never see the stars again
revolving in the heavens above,
treachery! without seeing in them
the eyes that did witness
the bitter cause of my torment,
nor say: oh lovely stars,

as she did take away her faith in me;
