Merge from Nunc Dimittis - from the Canticum Simeonis (Anonymous)

This is not anonymous - clearly by Victoria! See: Nunc Dimittis (Tomás Luis de Victoria) Edward Tambling 17:50, 18 March 2011 (CDT)

Clearly the same piece, so the pages should be merged. Whether it's clearly by Victoria is a matter of debate though. It seems somewhat pedestrian for Victoria (from my admittedly limited experience). It would not be the first time that an anonymous piece has been attributed to a well-known composer!

It might be worth changing the page name, since Nunc dimittis and Cantionis Simeonis is tautologous. Jamesgibb 12:25, 19 March 2011 (CDT)

No, it's quite firmly established as being Victoria (the work was published in Madrid in 1600), but, I agree, quite pedestrian! Edward Tambling 08:46, 20 March 2011 (CDT)
I think there are works published under Victoria's name during his lifetime that have since been securely reattributed to others, but in this case New Grove seems to be satisfied. Richard Mix (talk) 02:28, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
