Twas on a bright morning, a morning in May,
The lads and the lasses all went out to play;
The birds from each bush with a song did delight 'em,
The merry pipe and tabor to dance did invite 'em;
Then to it they buckled, each lad with his lass,
Led by Susan and Roger upon the green grass.
