Thirsis to Cloris pleaded
His tale of love, nor heeded
That envious Night descending,
Of their sweet talk full soon had made an ending.

Wherewith kind Cinthia in the heav'n that shined
Her nightly veil resigned,
And that fair face disclosed,
Where love and joy were met and both reposed.

Then each from other's looks such joy derived,
that both of mere delight died and revived.
