Un jeune moine est sorti du convent,
A rencontré une nonnette au corps gent.
Se print a luy demander
S'elle vouloit brinbaler
Ou dancer le petit pas.
 Vray dieu helas!
 Vous ne brinbalerez, moine!
 Vray dieu helas!
 Vous ne brinbalerez pas.

He moine, moine, qu'apelez brinbaler?
Ma jeune dame, baiser & accoller
En nostre religion
Brinbaler nous apelons,
Cors à cors, nus en deux draps.
 Vray dieu...

Et moine, moine, que diront vos abéz?
Il sont déçeus tous voire très bien gabéz
En lieu de bien entonner
Vous faites le lict branler,
La reigle ne l'entend pas.
 Vrai dieu...

English.png English translation

One day a monk from his cloister sallied forth,
He met a nun with a body of some worth.
So he asked her with some flair
If she’d like to tumble there
Or to two-step in the hall.
 Dear God, oh no!
You can’t tumble with her, brother!
 Dear God, oh no!
You can’t tumble here at all.

Say brother, brother, what is this tumble thing?
My sweet young lady, it means to kiss and cling
Our house rule has always been
That we call it “tumble” when
We’re in bed nude with a gal.
 Dear God...

Say brother, brother, what will your abbots say?
Oh they’re all fooled or they already play.
If instead of chanting prayer
You make beds jump like a hare
Benedict won’t know at all.
 Dear God...
