Welcome

Welcome to CPDL! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the help pages. Again, welcome and have fun! Claude (talk) 12:04, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for your very interesting editions! I wonder if the mass movements you've recently contributed are a cycle or not: one has the note "ffol. 33v-34" but generally one wants all the help one can get in identifying works by this 'composer'. CPDL has different ways of naming pages, one being disambiguation by numeral (Ave Maria I (Anonymous), Ave Maria II (Anonymous)) and one I prefer , adding the source to the title: Res est admirabilis (Graduel de Fontevrault) (Anonymous), Kyrie (16th cent. English) (Anonymous)). Then there are cases like Kyrie Magne Deus (tr93) I (Anonymous) & Kyrie Magne Deus (tr93) II (Anonymous) ;-) where at least pagination settles which is first. All the best from California, Richard Mix (talk) 02:54, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Hey there! I was wondering if I would be able to upload those as one cohesive cycle, thank you for reading my mind! I can definitely add more pagination notes if that's helpful, or just indicate the title of the manuscript with the mass title (adding the source to the title, sorry)
All best from Arizona!

Missa de Beata Virgine D-Ju MS 33 (Anonymous) looks great. I merged the Kyrie there, just so you can see if you like that layout; if you want to make movements individually available other examples are found on Dido and Aeneas, Z 626 (Henry Purcell) (a bit messy already, and potentially even worse), Funeral Office - 1816 (José Maurício Nunes Garcia) (inconsistent in breaking down page counts) and Coronation Mass, KV 317 (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) (shared CPDL#, with which I see no problem).
I had a very enjoyable drive from El Cerrito through Yosemite & Death Valley to my cousin in Phoenix a few years ago. Maybe we'll cross paths someday! Richard

Jena Choirbooks

I guess we're lucky there's such a large bibliography in English, the other name I could find being "Die deutschen Chorbucher aus der Hofkapelle Friedrichs des Weisen"! User:Barry Johnston has written Help:Create a new music publication page if you feel like having a go yourself. Richard Mix (talk) 19:34, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

Missa de Confessoribus a 5 (Heinrich Isaac)

Hi,

Excited to have this Mass, and if I'm correct in thinking it's without Credo the combined page will not need Template:IncompleteEdition! (Next time around please consider making a single mass page first and then adding movements to it one at a time; you can use the "add new edition" tab for this.)

Now you have to decide whether you want to delete CPDL #68871 or not: usually the tidyest way to fix a previous submission would have been to go to the file page (click on the icon with the magnifying glass to go to File:Missa de Confessoribus Sanctus.pdf and File:Missa de Confessoribus Sanctus.mxl) where you would have used the button labeled "Upload a new version of this file".

In the meantime I hope you'll get lots of practice at this and that we can look forward to more goodies! Richard Mix (talk) 22:25, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Updating editions

Hi again,

Next time you have an updated/corrected version there's a better way than adding a new edition as on the page Salve Sancta parens I (D-Ju MS 33) (Anonymous): File:D-JU Ms 33 Salve Sancta Parens .pdf File:D-JU Ms 33 Salve Sancta Parens .mid &c have buttons labeled "Upload a new version of this file" (below File history). A little cumbersome, but it will save you having to relabel File:Salve Sancta Parens D-Ju MS 33.pdf File:Salve Sancta Parens D-Ju MS 33.mid &c. Richard Mix (talk) 15:19, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

Hey there! I saw there was a way to add a new edition of a file, but if it's an entirely different setting, shouldn't I still treat it as a new work?
Ah! I wasn't paying enough attention. I've started a disambiguation page Salve Sancta Parens D-Ju MS 33 (Anonymous). Can I leave the rest up to you? (signing with 4 tildas~) Richard Mix (talk) 19:27, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Sanctus (anon.)

Hi,

Could you help ID the source for CPDL #68503 at Sanctus (Anonymous)? I see that it has the Marian interpolation, so there's a question in splitting whether it's a single movement or whether it fits into a mass cycle. Richard Mix (talk) 19:48, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Hey there,
I have no idea who composed that Sanctus or what cycle it could be from I don't think I saw the Marian tropes in the Benedictus either.
ChristopherMichael (talk) 05:09, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Chris
On a hunch I compared it to your Missa de Beata Virgine (D-Ju MS 33) (Anonymous). It's now merged there. Richard Mix (talk) 18:57, 27 July 2022 (UTC)

Isaac: Missa de Beata Virgine a 3

Hey there!

I saw that there was some confusion about the attribution for the recently uploaded Missa de Beata Virgine a 3. DIAMM attributes this to Heinrich Isaac, and other articles have alluded to his having composed a three-voice Missa de Beata Virgine. I couldn't find anything that pointed to this being a Senfl mass. On a related note, there are many similarities between this three-voiced mass and the anonymous one from JenaU-33, whoever composed this mass likely composed that one was well.

Let me know if I can help clear anything up or if you have any thought, thanks so much!

Orphan files

Hi, Christopher. I thank you for your precious contributions to CPDL. During July, you uploaded three files like File:Salve Sancta Parens D-Ju MS 35.pdf. They appear not to be linked from/to any page on our site, so they cannot be used by any user. Could you please create a related edition, or remove them, as we don't want to waste place on our servers? Thanks in advance. Claude T (talk) 06:05, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

I'm willing to help with a disambiguation page Salve Sancta Parens D-Ju MS 35 (Anonymous), but there seems to be only 1 setting which requires only a work page Salve Sancta Parens (D-Ju MS 35) (Anonymous). Are there indeed 2 other files?
By the way, there's a bit of confusion to clear up at Salve Sancta Parens D-Ju MS 33 (Anonymous): Claude, how did Salve sancta parens II (D-Ju MS 33) (Anonymous) become a redirect to Salve sancta parens IV (D-Ju MS 33) (Anonymous)? Richard Mix (talk) 21:25, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
Richard, you previously moved Salve Sancta parens ffol. 65v-67 (Anonymous) to Salve_sancta_parens_II_(D-Ju_MS_33)_(Anonymous), by this change but, according to the work list, what is at ffol. 65v-67 is Salve_sancta_parens_IV_(D-Ju_MS_33)_(Anonymous). Ok? Claude T (talk) 05:30, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
OK, but I don't think the redirect is very useful! Richard Mix (talk) 09:05, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
I've just removed it. ;-) Claude T (talk) 16:51, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

Hey there! Pardon any confusion on my end, it looks like I might have uploaded multiple versions of Salve Sancta (D-Ju MS 35) this summer in error; I'm also not sure where that setting is hosted. I can see it for myself under my editions, but I don't see it on the CPDL page. Please let me know if you need anything on my end to take care of this, I don't want to be a part of the problem as well!

Thanks for everything you do,

ChristopherMichael (talk) 01:31, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Chris

As you noticed, the three orphan files have "MS 35" in the title (supposedly erroneously). So, I guess I may remove them. Claude T (talk) 05:20, 23 October 2022 (UTC)

So, Christopher, are you going to resubmit Salve Sancta Parens D-Ju MS 35 (Anonymous) via the addwork form? Richard Mix (talk) 08:26, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
