Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr (originally in Low German Aleyne God yn der Höge sy eere) is a German paraphrase attributed to Nikolaus Decius (c.1485-1541) of the Gloria. It was first printed in the Rostock Gesang Buch (1525) and its chorale melody, based on the Et in terra of the Gregorian Missa I (Lux et origo) associated with Easter, first appeared in the Deutsch Evangelisch Messze (1539).
English versions include Catherine Winkworth's "All Glory be to God on high, Who hath our race befriended" and Gilbert E Doan's "All glory…And give Him thanks forever". The Hymnal 1982 has a 3 stanza version of "All glory… And peace on earth from heaven" by F. Bland Tucker.
