Biography

De Silva enters the record in 1515 with the motet Gaude felix Florentia, performed for the election of Pope Leo X, and remained on the payrolls of the papal chapel until 1522; there are a few references to him near the end of the decade. He is not to be confused with another Andreas Walder/Sylvanus (fl. Heidelberg 1511), of whom only excerpts from a Missa Malheur me bat survive in Glareanus' Dodecachordon.
