Biography: Arnolt Schlick first enters record in 1486 as a blind organist who played at Maximilian I's election; the language of his book on organ construction seems to betray a Heidelberg origin. He was acquainted with Paul Hofhaimer and traveled widely to test new instruments, the last such record being in 1521.
His book in organ tablature includes several texted works for 1 and 3 voices, but the instrumental works are also useful for alternatim with a choir: his Salve Regina for instance is contemporary with Obrecht's.
