Edition notes: The alto part is printed in the source in the treble clef an octave above sounding pitch. Verses 7 and 10 only are underlaid in the source (in the trio and the chorus respectively): verses 8 and 9 have been editorially underlaid in the trio, on the basis of the heading 'PSALM XCVI Verses 7 8 9 & 10' in the source. The semiquaver B and C in the tenor part on beat 1 of bar 25 are printed in the source as semiquaver grace notes (slurred to the preceding A, a minim), and have been written out editorially. The chorus is printed in retorted time in the source.
