Beatus Franciscus,
dum morti appropinquaret,
lacrimosis oculis
in coelum intendens dixit :
voce mea ad Dominum clamavi
voce mea ad Dominum deprecatus sum :
educ de custodia animam meam
ad confitendum nomini tuo
me expectant justi donec retribuas mihi.
English translation
When the blessed Francis was close to death,
he spoke, weeping and looking up to heaven, and said:
‘I have cried aloud to the Lord; I have lifted up my voice to the Lord for mercy.
Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name.
Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.’
