Burkhart M. Schürmann studierte Schulmusik, Germanistik und Musikwissenschaft in Hannover sowie Chorleitung in Würzburg. Seit 2002 lehrt er u. a. Ensembleleitung, Tonsatz und Formenlehre an der oberfränkischen Berufsfachschule für Musik in Kronach. Seine Vertonung des 22. Psalms "Mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen" gewann im Juni 2009 den 2. Preis bei einem Kompositionswettbewerb der Berliner Domkantorei und wurde im Berliner Chormusik-Verlag veröffentlicht.

Burkhart M. Schuermann studied school music, German language & literature and musicology in Hanover before he gained a choral conducting diploma at Musikhochschule Wuerzburg. In 2002 he started teaching choral conducting and music theory at the Upper Franconia Vocational College of Music in Kronach (Germany). His setting of Psalm 22 ("My God, why hast thou forsaken me") won the 2nd prize in a composition competition of Berlin Cathedral in June 2009 and was published by Berliner Chormusik-Verlag.
