First published: 1555 in Le quatoirsiesme livre a 4 parties, no. 25
2nd published: 1561 in Di Cipriano et Annibale madregali a 4 voci, no. 19
Description: Madrigal probably deploring the absence of Alfonso d'Ercole from the Ferrara court in 1552 - 1554, given the line recessu principis.
The time change from duple meter to triple meter doesn't happen at the same time. The last brevis note in the Tenor part in duple meter overlaps with the triple meter notes of the other parts. The use of the proportion between duple and triple of 3:2 is essential (2 semibreves of duple meter = 3 semibreves in triple meter, If you start with a tempo of 60/min for a semibreve, you need to switch to 90/min in the triple meter).
