Candido e verde fiore—
che di speranza e fede
tu pur m’imbianchi
e mi rinverdi il core
lasso—sì come chiaro in te
si vede il tuo color sincero,
scorgessi io sì
de la mia donna il vero.
O di mia speme allor goder potrei,
O di mia fede, ne' tormenti miei!

English.png English translation

White and green flower—
who with hope and faith
purify me as well
and rejuvenate my tired
heart—I wish that as plainly I see
in you your true colours,
as plainly I would see
the truth about my lady.
Then I could enjoy my hope
or my dedication, amidst my torments!
