Chiedendo un bascio alla mia cara Aminta,
sospirando ne stette un pezzo in forse,
Poi d’honesto rossor la faccia tinta,
La dolce bocca per basciar mi porse.
All’hor dal gran piacer l’anima vinta,
Mi tiene in vita quel suave humore,
Né torna; anch’io se vo restarò preso;
che debbo far, che mi consigli amore?

es kehrt auch nicht zurück; auch ich, wenn ich gehe, werde gefangen bleiben;
was soll ich tun, was rät mir die Liebe?
Translation by Gerhard Weydt

The sonnet wasn't published in Caro's „Rime“. The text was reprinted in several collections of sonnets (without the author's name), often with differing wording. The original as well as most of the later versions agree that in the sixth row “la lingua” instead of “le labbra” should be used. This seems more plausible because of the singular of the verb as well as the context, therefore this version was also used for the German translation. A replacement for performances should be considered.
