Description: First published in Songs of Zion, 1821, p. 38, for three voices: Treble-Tenor-Bass. Words by Isaac Watts, Sermons, 1724, with six stanzas. Carrell used the first two stanzas of Watts' hymn in his composition. This song has been page 57 in The Sacred Harp, 1860 to the present. An Alto part was written by S. M. Denson in 1911.
