Daniel Belknap
Daniel Belknap (February 9, 1771 – October 3, 1815) was a farmer, mechanic, militia captain, poet, and singing teacher. Belknap was born in Framingham, Massachusetts, and was one of the first American composers. He compiled four sacred tune books in the years of 1797-1806, and also issued a book of secular songs with music. He died in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Belknap was an early American composer, principally of sacred music. He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts. He is described as 'Teacher of Music, in Framingham' on the title page of his first book, The Harmonist's Companion. He died in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
