Description: Psalm 19 from the Becker Psalter. Cornelius Becker based his metric version of the Psalms on Marin Luther's Bible translation. Luther made in this Psalm a small translation error in the Bible verse 5 with the phrase "Ihre Schnur gehet aus in alle Lande" (equivalent to the King James translation "Their line is gone out through all the earth"). Newer revisions of Luther's Bible have the wording "Ihr Schall geht aus in alle Lande" (Engl.: "Their sound is gone out into all lands"). This Bible verse can be found in verse 2 of Becker's poem in the last line "Ihr Schnur geht durch alle Land". Blankenburg has changed this to "Gotts Lob geht durch alle Land (God's praise is gone out into all lands). The version given below for a modern wording uses "Schall" (engl. Sound).
For his new revison in 1661 Schütz made no change to this composition.
