Dulcis mater, dulci [g]nato
dúlcia praebens úbera, quae sola fuísti digna
portáre regem caelórum et dóminum angelórum,
pro peccatóribus ora dum mortis vénerit hora.

Inclína, mater misericórdiae,
aures tuae pietátis ad preces nostras,
et esto nobis peccatóribus in ómnibus auxiliátrix,
   ut post huius vitae cursum
   nos ad gaúdia ducas caelórum.

English.png English translation

Sweet mother, offering to the sweet child
the delightful breast, thou who alone was worthy
to bear the king of heaven and lord of the angels,
pray for us sinners when the hour of death comes.

Incline, O Mother of Mercy,
the ears of thy pity unto our prayers,
and be to us sinners helper in all things,
that, after the course of this life,
we may be led unto the joys of heaven.
