  Ein truncken man on abelon/
  der fiert ein martrers leben/
  er hat kein rhu,
  noch spat, noch frü/
  nach unfall thut er streben/
er saufft in sich gantz geitzigklich/
das Bier und auch den Weine,
  dann wird er vol/
  thumb, taub und thol,
  dann wird er vol/
  recht wie ein wilders schweine.

  Ein grosse plag,
  on widersag/
das einr sich nit kan füllen/
  ein Ochssenbauch, ein Eselsschlauch/
  kan man mit wasser stillen/
  ein raucher Beer,
  der trinckt nit mehr/
  dann was jm zugehöret/
  ein truncken mann,
  nit ab wil lohn/
  er sey dann gar bethöret.

English.png English translation

   A Drunkard who can't abstain/
lives a life full of woes/
   he has no rest,
   neither late nor early/
   and strives quite in wain/
   drinking constantly/
   both beer and also Wine,
   and when he gets full/
he'll go dumb, deaf and dull,
   quite like a wild boar.

   It is a great plague,
   with out doubt/
that it is impossible to satisfy him/
The Stomach of an ox, a Donkeys throat/
   you can satisfy with water/
   a temperate man
   never drinks more
   than his due part/
   but a drunkard
   will never leave off/
   never before he is senseless.
