Erat autem in civitate Samariae vir quidam, nomine Simon Magus,
videns signa et virtutes Apostolorum, stupens admirabatur:
Obtulit eis pecuniam, dicens:

Date et mihi hanc potestatem.

Responderunt Apostoli: Pecunia tua tecum sit in perditionem:
Quia donum sancti Spiritus te credidisti pecuniis comparare.

Now there was a certain man in the city of Samaria, and his name is Simon Magus.
Seeing the miracles and signs of the apostles, he was amazed:
He offered them money, saying:

Give me this power.

The apostles answered, May your money go with you to perdition:
Because you believed the gift of the Holy Spirit could be bought.
