:'''Edition notes:''' The first verse only of the text is underlaid in the source, with the other two verses given here printed after the music: these have been underlaid editorially. The change of time signature in bar 4 is editorial: this bar only has two beats (with music as given here) in the source, but does not have a different time signature. This bar is at the end of the first system, and is not followed by a bar line - while this suggests it would be completed at the start of the next system, this is not the case, as bar 5 has the full 4 beats. To avoid changing the rhythm, bar 4 has therefore been marked as 2/4. Original clefs treble, alto, tenor, bass.

Great is the Lord, and with great praise
To be advanced still
Within the city of our God,
Upon his holy hill.
Mount Sion is a pleasant place,
It gladd'neth all the land;
The city of the mighty King
On her north-side doth stand.

Within the palaces thereof
God is a refuge known;
For lo, the kings are gathered, and
Together they are gone:
But when they did behold it so,
They wondered, and they were
Astonished much, and suddenly
Were driven back with fear.

O Lord, according to thy name
For ever is thy praise,
And thy right hand, O Lord, is full
Of righteousness always:
For thy judgments let Sion mount
Be filled full with joys;
Also of Judah grant, O Lord,
The daughters to rejoice.
