==Where can I find a list of duplicated scores?==
If you wish to contribute a new edition to an existing {{CC|Sheet music|work page}}, simply click the "Add new edition" tab on the menu near the top of that page (additional explanation may be found at [[Help:Score submission guide]]).

==How did this happen?==
If you discover 2 different pages with the same piece you can alert us by placing a merge template on the page:
When CPDL was first transferred to wiki format, every edition was tranformed into a wiki page and imported. The main problem in the transfer occurred when two pieces had the exact same title and composer. Then the wiki page was overwritten.
*[[Template:Merge]] and [[Template:Mergefrom]] allow time for discussion to start: current scholarship reattributed [[Ave Maria (Tomás Luis de Victoria)]] to [[Ave Maria a 4 (Jacob Handl)]]; merging [[Regina caeli (Pietro Mascagni)]] to [[Cavalleria rusticana (Pietro Mascagni)]] was a judgment call.
*[[Template:Mergeto]] is for unambiguous cases, such as obvious misspellings.

==How can this be fixed?==
In order to recover the entry, one needs to click on the History tab of a given score, and copy paste the edition info from an older version onto the newest version of a page. Here is a step-by-step guide:

*'''1.''' Go to the composer's page, let's say, Josquin Des Prez. Let's try to combine all editions of "Ave Verum" onto the same page. The composer's page lists 4 entries: <br>
If you want to perform the merge yourself, simply copy the code that's already formatted into the new page, most recent edition at the top.<br>

Notice that there are different spellings of the work’s name: "Ave '''V'''erum" and "Ave '''v'''erum". This is important, because it means that there are 2 different pages on the choral wiki, one named "Ave '''V'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)" and another named "Ave '''v'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)" (one page per spelling), with different information on it.

'''Note: if you want to be sure that it's the same work (many composers made different settings of the same liturgical text thru ought their lives), open the pdf or source files on separate windows to compare them.'''

'''Also: sometimes similar work names refer to the same work.'''

*'''2.''' Since we have 2 different spellings, we will have to go into these 2 pages.
When you click on the first of the list, "Ave '''V'''erum", you go to the "Ave '''V'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)" page that has the edition '''CPDL #3317'''. <br>
[[Image:Combining different editions 2.JPG]]

*'''3.''' Go to the "'''history'''" tab. A list of all the versions that this page has had appears. Click on the oldest (bottom of the list) version.
[[Image:Combining different editions 3.JPG]]<br>

*'''4.''' Now the page that appears has a different edition: '''CPDL #1281'''.
[[Image:Combining different editions 4.JPG]]<br>

*'''5.''' Click on "'''edit this page'''" and copy the information that appears below '''==Music files==''' (not including <nowiki>{{Legend}}</nowiki>) and above '''==General information==''' and paste it on a text file for future use. Don’t' save the page, you haven’t changed anything, yet.
[[Image:Combining different editions 5.JPG]]<br>

*'''6.''' Go back to the "'''history'''" tab, and check if the following version has a different CPDL number from the first and from the current version of the page. If yes, repeat the process described in 5.

*'''7.''' As soon as you have all the information about all music files, you can edit the current version of the page (just click on "'''article'''" and then on "'''edit this page'''"). Paste the information you collected on the text file into the section '''==Music files==''' , that contains already one CPDL catalogue number.

*'''8.''' Save the page. Don't worry if something doesn't work out like it was supposed to, it's always possible to restore previous versions of the page.

*'''9.''' If everything works out all right, then the "Ave '''V'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)" page should have, under Music files, the 2 editions:

'''CPDL #3317 <br>'''
'''CPDL #1281'''

If possible, please list the editions in reverse order, so the most recent edition is on top of the list.

*'''10.''' Now you have to repeat the process of copying the music file information for the page that has the name "Ave '''v'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)". Click on its name on the composer's page and repeat the history-edit this page process to collect the information about these editions ('''CPDL #5197''' and '''CPDL #1952'''). Paste this information into the section '''==Music files==''' of the "Ave '''V'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)" that you treated previously. After this, all four editions of this work should be listed on the "Ave '''V'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)" page:

'''CPDL #5197 <br>'''
'''CPDL #3317 <br>'''
'''CPDL #1952 <br>'''
'''CPDL #1281'''

*'''11.''' Sorry, not done, yet. We still have 2 different pages for the same work ("Ave '''v'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)" and "Ave '''V'''erum (Josquin Des Prez)", don’t' forget that different spelling implies different pages!)) and 4 entries on the composer's page. Let's first fix the 2 different pages:

On the page that you didn't add the different editions to ("Ave '''v'''erum (Josquin Des Prez")), click on "'''edit this page'''". Delete everything and write '''<nowiki>#redirect[[Ave Verum (Josquin Des Prez)]]</nowiki>''' It has to be the exact name of the page where all the information is. Save the page.

*'''12.''' Now go to the composer's page. Edit the page, find the listing of the 4 Ave Verum under '''==List of choral works=='''. Keep the one you added the different editions to (the first of the list), delete the other 3 entries and add, on the one you that you kept: <nowiki>''</nowiki>4 editions available<nowiki>''</nowiki> (the 2 single quotes <nowiki>''</nowiki> format the text in ''italic'').<br>

*'''13.''' Done. Thanks a lot!
