Biography
John Whittaker was born in Liverpool and currently lives in Reading, Berkshire, UK. He has written many songs and song-cycles for voice and piano, some short choral pieces, several cantatas for children's choir, some short orchestral pieces and two one-act chamber operas. His most ambitious work is probably his opera of 50 mins. duration, based on the Thomas Hardy play, 'The Three Wayfarers'. A notable piece written during the covid pandemic of 2020-2 is his powerful string quartet 'In Our Times'.
