General Information

Title: Missa de Dringhs
Composer: Antoine Brumel

Number of voices: 4vv   Voicing: ATTB

Genre: SacredMass

Language: Latin
Instruments: a cappella
Published:

Description: The Missa de Dringhs is a parody mass, based on the composer's own secular chanson Tous les regretz. The title of the Mass, however, has never been satisfactorily explained. Perhaps the original tune used the word Dringhs in it, or perhaps there is some secret hidden within. Glareanus (1488 – 1563), the famous theorist, refers to the mass, spelling the title in Greek characters. Besides this, however, there is no explanation as to why it is called Dringhs.
