Original text and translations

Italian.png Italian text

Non rumor di tamburi o son di trombe
Furon principio a l’amoroso assalto
Ma baci ch’imitavan le colombe
Davan segn’hor di gire hor di far alto
Usam’altr’arme che saett’o frombe
Io senza scala in su la rocca salto
E lo stendardo piantovi di botto
E la nemica mia mi caccio sotto

English.png English translation

Were not the drums' noise or the trumpets' sound
That start mounting the love assault
But kisses imitating the doves
Gave signal sometimes to go sometimes to stop
We used weapons other than darts or slings
Without ladder I jump up on the stronghold
And suddenly I knock in the banner
And I put my enemy (she) under me
