- Editor: Edmund Gooch (submitted 2014-09-04). Score information: A4, 1 page, 53 kB Copyright: Public Domain
- Edition notes: The original order of parts is Tenor - Alto - Air - [Bass]: the alto part is printed in the treble clef an octave above sounding pitch in the source. Only the first verse of the text is given in the source: three subsequent verses selected from the text have been added editorially. With the exception of the soprano part in bar 16, slurring is absent from the source for this piece, and has been added editorially based on the beaming of note groups in the source.
Description: This setting was published on p28 of Thomas Jarman's Sacred Music, comprising Thirty Six Select Hymns, London: [c1812]. Hymn Tune Index tune number 13786.
The same text was set by Jarman to a different tune, 'Sevens Cheerful', in the first edition of his first book, Sacred Music, Comprising Select Hymns, London: [1803-5]: in the second edition of that collection, published in 1821, the tune was reharmonised and retitled as 'Redemption'.
