Italian text Se vuoi ch'io muoia, o nuovo Basilisco, fissa in me'l guardo tuo fiero e mortale e finirà il mio male; ed io lieto morrò quando mi tocchi aver la morte mia da tuoi begli occhi.

English translation If you wish that I die, O new Basilisk, fix your merciless and deadly gaze upon me, and my torment will end; and I will joyfully die when you you touch me, to have my death from your two lovely eyes. Translation by Allen Garvin
