Some musical references (e.g., this one) list him as a Spanish composer under the name "Cristóbal de Montemayor". The Spanish Wikipedia page for Cristóbal de Montemayor (ca. 1550 - ca. 1609) and a more detailed biography describe him as a medical doctor, without any reference to musical composition.
