Thanks for bringing this up. I asked Helene Whitson of the Bay Area Choral Archive, and she checked on this. She said Grove lists one by Giovanni but not Andrea, and none of the other sources she checked list any 8-part Magnificat by Andreas. I think we can safely categorize it under Giovanni only. | Thanks for bringing this up. I asked Helene Whitson of the Bay Area Choral Archive, and she checked on this. ::Although [the pdf for] edition [1368] indicates that this is by Andrea, the oldest source for this work is the printed edition Sacrae Symphoniae Ioannis Gabrielii, published by Angelo Gardano, Venice, 1597 (see below). On what grounds Mr. Macchi attributed this work to Andrea Gabrieli is unfortunately not known. – [[User:Heeroma]] 14:54, 10 April 2022 (Moved here from [[Magnificat a 8 (Giovanni Gabrieli)|the work page]]) | |||

The piece linked here is the same as this one - I don't actually know which Gabrieli it is, but it's probably not both! Zenbobby 19:08, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
