Life

Born: 5 November 1957

Biography

Tim Risher received his BA in Music at the University of Central Florida and his MM in Music Composition from the Florida State University in Tallahassee. During this time he organized a new music ensemble there, the Tallahassee Camerata.

Parallel with his work at the university, Tim Risher worked as a producer at National Public Radio for six years. While at NPR he worked on two programs – FSU Concert, presenting FSU students and faculty in concert, and Radio Diffusions, a new music show.

As a composer, he has had many works published and performed throughout the USA and Europe. In 1990 he moved to Germany, writing works such as Over and Under (which received its world premiere in London in Wigmore Hall by the Palladian Ensemble, 4 in 1, for recorder, bass gamba and harpsichord and Falling, a work for full wind ensemble. His works have also been presented on many Radio Programs, including St. Paul Sunday Morning (MPR), DLR (Deutschland Radio) and WDR (West-Deutsch Rundfunk). He has composed works for various known performers and groups, and he currently lives in North Carolina, writing music for chorus, organ, or whatever comes his way.
