He studied piano under Laura Profitt, and at age 11, began organ studies with Dr. John Deaver, of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. While still in high school, he studied composition privately with Dr. Miguel Ruig-Francoli, Distinguished Teaching Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
