OK:
default limit for search results viewable is 200, but can use "skip=m" (defaulting to m=0) and "number=n" (defaulting to n=500, the maximum permissible number) which skip the first m pages and display n results. As an alternative, the multi-category search now an extra selection box titled "Limit" where this variable can be changed. It can be increased from the current 200 results to up to 2000 results (which is a de facto limit for this kind of search), but use this last option sparingly due to server load

Chuck posted in the forums:
One way might be to provide a bare bones multicategory search that allows searches of the form
(category:11 OR ... OR Category:1n)
AND
...
AND
(category:m1 OR ... OR Category:mn)
easy enough to write the generic DPL code: each line is of the form: category=i1 | ... | category=in (each line like this does the "OR" part),
and each separate line corresponds to "AND".

==LnkTxt vs. LinkText==
<!--
Hi Claude. Thank you for your continued work in adding texts and translations of works here at CPDL. If I might make one request - when you're adding links to text pages, please use Template:LnkTxt only when the list of settings on the text page is automatically generated. In all other cases, please use Template:LinkText. You can see which text pages you should use Template:LnkTxt for here. For the most part, you should use Template:LinkText. Many thanks! --Bobnotts talk 22:38, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
    Well, so, there are only 22 texts that can be reached by LinkTxt template. Why these and no other ? Also, when I add a LnkText template, is it possible to generate automatically the works/composer entry in the settings list for that text ?Claude 08:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
        Using Template:LnkTxt and automated settings lists was an experiment by Carlos or Chuck (I can't remember who started it) which has subsequently been abandoned to some degree or other because it doesn't allow for the level of flexibility that we usually want on such text pages. For example, on Psalm 150 we have a list of settings then a list of information about each setting - which verses it sets, what language it's in, etc. Basically, it's a big mess... --Bobnotts talk 14:02, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
            Hi Claude, let me try to explain it: The initial idea to use template:LnkTxt to generate an automated listing for text pages was mine, and a couple of pages were created in this new format as an experiment. Chuck decided to try it on a Psalm page, but psalm text pages do have their peculiarities and so it was decided not to use LnkTxt on them. BUT using it for all other works is still ok. So, if you see 3 or more works which share exactly the same text (or with very slight differences), you are encoraged to create a text page for them. The procedure is simple:
          1. Replace on one of the works page {{NoText}} by {{LnkTxt|<text page title>|<composer surname>}}.
          2. When you save the page, the <text page title> will appear as a red link. Click on it to create this new text page.
          3. On the page that opens, paste the following and click Save: {{subst:ChoralWiki:Text template}}
          4. Edit the page again and voilà!, you have a new text page properly formatted, just waiting for your text and translations.
          5. As soon as you click on Preview, the first work to which you applied LnkTxt on step 1 should already appear on the settings list.
            If you have any doubt, just ask me; if you simply prefer not to use this tool, feel free not to! :) —Carlos Email.gif 18:17, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
                Hi, Carlos, I tried your way of doing. It seems to work well : eleven works with same text and translation on that new text page. Some Bytes less on the server. But the works seem to be weirdly sorted (historical linking to the text page?). -Claude 15:32, 18 December 2008 (UTC) You just have to use the third parameter, Claude (writing to himself ;-) - Claude 07:40, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
                    Oh, yes Claude! You just missed the sort key by composer surname ;)
                    There's just one other point that I wanted to discuss with you: The Puer natus text has two main versions, one completely in Latin and one macarronic in Latin/German. We must decide how to deal with these two versions. Shall they stay on the same page? If I'm not mistaken, the macarronic text is used only by Praetorius. Carlos 14:31, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
                        Just have a look at the 3 scores which are on the same discussed page: On Christian Mondrup's score, there is German text that wasn't with the Latin one, on Marco Cipoo's, I doesn't see any word in German! On the Abel di Marco edition, I doesn't see any word at all, nor any note because I'm unable to see any score of this editor (neither Mac nor Window, neither IE nor Firefox)! If you can, just explain me how! Yesterday, I just let the Latin words that were here and added a link to the general common text.
            Hi Claude, I've added a PDF/MIDI for the Abel di Marco edition (you need a plugin installed to see his page). As you noticed, the other two editions had different music or text and were moved to independent pages, ok! Carlos 18:31, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
                Carlos, the problem is that I've not been able to get the necessary plugin: it's an old (2002) SmartMusicViewer.class in Java impossible to install (neither on PC -Xp or Vista- nor Mac) because CodaMusic disappeared and all the links point to the successive FinaleViewer, which works perfectly well to see Finale files you posess on your disk but doesn't show the Abel diMarco's files that stay on his site (right click is there disabled). The whole thing is that among a thousand works in Latin on CPDL claiming "No text" there are about 500 in this case. So, thank you for having showed one score tonight. There are only 499 left to do ;-)

}}
:Hi Vaarky. Thanks for creating this request. I've moved your message here and I've just fixed [[ChoralWiki:ScoreRequest]] which was causing the composer's first name to not display. I don't know why clicking on the discussion tab takes you to the (as yet uncreated) score page for the request, a question that I have posed to [[User talk:CHGiffen#Score requests|Chuck]]. The request page should appear in the category soon after it has been created. If you're referring to [[ChoralWiki/Requested articles|this request list]], it won't be added to that page as it is out of date and will be deleted in the fullness of time... Let me know if you have any other problems. --[[User:Bobnotts|Bobnotts]] <small>[[User talk:Bobnotts|'''talk''']]</small> 07:16, 31 July 2008 (PDT)
::Thanks for fixing that. It was the [http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Requests_by_composer&from=C|"Requests_by_composer"] page where I did not see the piece listed (that page also covers composers starting with the letter D). --[[User:Vaarky|Vaarky]] 07:47, 31 July 2008 (PDT)
:::Hi Vaarky, because of the wiki's distinction between lower and upper case, ''du Caurroy'' is sorted differently from ''Du Caurroy''. Look again in [[:Category:Requests by composer]] and you'll find your request ''after'' letter Z. A solution for this could be to add in your request page the following:
:::<tt><nowiki>[[Category:Requests by composer|Du Caurroy, Eustache]]</nowiki></tt>.

category=cat_1
...
category=cat_n
order=ascending
ordermethod=title
</DPL>
is the basic construct to get a listing of articles in cat_1,...,cat_n. In other words, the boolean "and" is accomplished by citing multiple instances of "category=". But if there are still more than some fixed number (the upper limit is currently 500), then only the 500 articles will be displayed. To get, say, 200 articles displayed, starting with the 601st article add lines:
count=200
offset=600
You will need this for the the cats "Renaissance music" & "Works in Latin", since there are currently about 1700 such works (and even Palestrina has a little over 200 works in Latin, but at least this is less than the 500 upper limit). Hence, the code for Ren & Latin, 601 through 800 looks like (with the optional line columns set to 2 to produce two-column output):
<DPL>
category=Renaissance music
category=Works in Latin
ordermethod=title
order=ascending
offset=600
count=200
columns=2
</DPL>
When viewing these, it's probably best to enter the info and then simply preview (rather than save) your sandbox (or other page).
I've just made a Template:MultiCatList to automate these ideas (it will be extended later). The code:
{{MultiCatList|Renaissance music|Works in Latin|col=2|skip=1200|number=400}}
lists all works common to Ren & Latin, in two columns, skipping the first 1200, and displaying (up to) 400 results. The col, skip, number paramters are optional and default to 1, 0, 200 respectively. So...
{{MultiCatList|Renaissance music|Works in Latin|SATB}}
lists the first 200 Ren, Latin, SATB works in a single column.
{{MultiCatList|William Byrd|Works in Latin|skip=100|number=50}} lists the Byrd Latin works from 101 through 150.
As an added feature, the total number of pages is listed at the beginning (helps in knowing how much you might wish to peruse!).
It's not quite possible to implement something like category listings - which allow looking at the next (or previous) 200 items, or (with Template:CatAZ) clicking on a letter of the alphabet and obtaining a listing that starts there. However, it is possible to obtain single page listings that start with any letter (or combination of letters) - more later.
I hope this is of use to you. :)

There is now another optional parameter "match" to Template:MultiCatList which works more or less as follows:
    * setting match=Q ... displays results whose title begins with Q
    * setting match=%Byrd ... displays results with "Byrd" somewhere in the title
    * match=A%{{!}}%Palestrina - or - match=%Palestrina%{{!}}A ... displays results whose title begins with A or have "Palestrina" somewhere in the title.
    * setting match=P%{{!}}Q%{{!}}R ... displays results whose title begins with either P, Q or R
Note: {{!}} functions like a "pipe" (inside a "#dpl:" declaration ... analogous to "|" elsewhere in WikiMedia) but in this context servers as a logical "or" ... and "%" is really a "wildcard character".
Also, the default for the "number" parameter has been increased from 200 to 500 (the allowable maximum).
