Editor: Mick_Swithinbank (submitted 2018-03-21).   Score information: A4, 11 pages, 94 kB   Copyright: CPDL
Edition notes: Modern clefs; original pitch and note values. Although downward transposition would have been an option, it would have precluded the use of sopranos to perform the work, and it is not obvious what transposition would be most useful.

Description: A Song of songs motet published in Attaingnant's Fourth Book of Motets. The H of hortum would no doubt have been silent in French-speaking areas, and is mostly omitted in the source, except in the table of contents. The high clefs in the source (C1, C1, C2, C4)suggest that downward transposition for performance may have been an option. Although there are many motet settings that begin with the same words, the selection of texts in Hesdin's work is not a standard one.
