German text Was trag ich auff der hende/  Ein gleßlein mit külem wein/  wem sol ich aber bringen/  dem liebsten stal brüder mein/  hans nickel von der hohen zinnen/  Es muß sein aigen sein/  Es flog ein vögelein über den rhein/  helut, helut, helut, helut  Ein gleßlein mit külem wein/  es muß getruncken sein.

English translation What do I carry in my hands? A glass of cool wine. To who should I bring it? My brother did steel my lowe from me. To Hans Nickel of the lofty mind. It has to be his own. A bird did fly ower the Rhine. Helut, helut. A glass of cool wine that must be drunk.
