Description: This glee started life as "Which is the properest day to drink", scored for male company, i.e. two tenors and a bass. A fourth part was added in the mid-nineteenth century , making the glee "equally suitable for ladies and gentleman", but still retaining the more robust words. It is not known when the bowdlerization was effected.

Which is the properest day to drink? Each is the properest day I think, why should I name but one day? Tell me but yours, I'll mention my day, let us but fix on some day. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
