German text
1 Wohl mag der sein ein selig Mann,
der sich nimmt des Dürftigen an,
ihm ist Segen von Gott bereit,
er wird errett zur bösen Zeit.
2 Der Herr Leib und Seel ihm bewahrt,
frisch und gesund beim Leben spart,
ihm muß wohl gehn auf dieser Erd,
weil Gott ihn hält im Herzen wert.
3 Ich sprach: Ach Herr, erzeig mir Gnad,
denn ich bekenn mein Missetat,
an dir hab ich gesündigt schwer,
heil meine Seel, o Gott, mein Herr.
4 Um mein Glauben, Herr, mich erhältst,
vor dein Antlitz mich ewig stellst,
Herr, unser Gott, gelobt allzeit
von nun an bis in Ewigkeit.
