Richard, that makes a lot of sense! When this template is used, it is implied that the work should be categorized as "A cappella". Should we do such categorization from inside this template? (regardless of it being done also at the Accompaniment field) —Carlos 04:40, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Of course I would really like to see A cappella works labeled as such in the Instruments field. What you suggest could be a fail-safe, but there's the hypothetical case of an accompanied work that has rehearsal-only accompaniments added as well…maybe not even hypothetical: the 4-hand Brahms Requiem duplicates the chorus' unaccompanied passages, and a reprint I've seen prints these in small note heads, implying they're better not played (this is of course because the two hand version treats the chorus as ad lib.).

I happen to loath the name Keyboard reduction, which implies for many users a reduction of an orchestral accompaniment, which CPDL calls Keyboard version but which the rest of the world calls piano reductions or piano-vocal scores. I think I've suggested on one of the talk pages (this one) renaming this template RehAcc and renaming the category Rehearsal accompaniments. Richard Mix (talk) 09:55, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Oh, I agree that the A cappella label should continue to be added to the Instruments field when appropriate. I was referring only to an extra categorization (that would be superfluous most of the times) performed by this template, but the examples you gave made me reconsider it.

Regarding the accompaniment categories, I suppose they are in the singular form because the words "Works with" are implied, as in "Category:[Works with] Violin accompaniment". —Carlos 03:39, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
