Description: Though the words are romantic, this song is above all a very well known nursery rhyme, at the same level as Frère Jacques or Au clair de la lune. Those three songs are also the first tunes many children learn to play on a keyboard.

English translation At the clear fountain, while going for a walk I found the water so beautiful that I bathed in it. I’ve been loving you for a long time, I’ll never forget you I lay down to dry under the leaves of an oak. On the topmost branch a nightingale was singing. Sing, o nightingale, sing, your heart is merry, your heart wants to laugh, mine wants to cry. I lost my lover without deserving it for a posy of roses I wouldn't give her I wish the roses were still on their bush and that my beloved still loved me.
