Also hat Gott geliebt die welt,
das er sein Son hat dargestelt/
zu leiden angst/
marter und spot/
und letzlich auch den den bittern todt.

Auff das ein jeder der do glaubt,
in seinem nam nit werd beraubt/
sonder besitz das ewig lebn/
das wölst o Herr uns allen gebn.
Amen, Amen.

English translation

God loved the world so much,
that he has did send his Son/
to suffer fear/
torture and contempt/
and ultimately also the bitter death.

And everyone who belive this/
will not, in his name, be deprived of,/
but will have everlasting life./
Grant this, o Lord, to us all.
Amen, amen.
