Italian text Benedetti i martìri ch'io, sostegno d'amor, per voi soffersi. Benedette le lagrime e i sospiri ch'io vò sempre spargendo. Alma, che pianto per dolcezza versi, ben déi morir ridendo, poi ch'à morte ne mena questa, sola fra noi, del ciel sirena.

English translation Blessed be the pains that I, love's stronghold, endured for you. Blessed be the tears and sighs that I ceaselessly let out. O soul, who shed tears out of delight, you shall die laughing, because to death brings she, the only one among us who is resplendent in the sky.
