Biography
Born Johann Paul Aegidius Schwarzendorf in Bavaria, he adopted Jean-Paul-Égide Martini on moving to France. He is sometimes referred to as Martini il tedesco or Giovanni Paolo Martini, causing frequent confusion with Giovanni Battista Martini.
