Latin text Cum cænasset Jesus et dedisset discipulis suis corpus suum ad manducandum et sanguinem suum ad bibendum, exierunt simul in montem Oliveti. (31) Tunc dixit illis Jesus: "Omnes vos scandalum patiemini in me, in hac nocte. Scriptum est enim: percutiam pastorem, et dispergentur oves gregis." (33) Respondens autem Petrus, ait illi: "Et si omnes scandalizati fuerint in te, nunquam ego scandalizabor." (34) "Amen dico tibi, Petre, quia in hac nocte, antequam gallus cantet, ter me negabis." "Ah! Domine! (35) Etiam si oportuerit me mori tecum, non te negabo." Similiter et omnes discipulis dixerunt: "Non te negabimus." (47) Ecce Judas unus de duodecim venit, et cum eo turba multa cum gladiis et fustibus irruerunt in Jesum, et tenuerunt, quod videntes discipuli ejus fugerunt. Quem cum vidisset ostiaria dixit ei: "Numquid et tu ex discipulis hominis istus es?" "O mulier! Non sum. (72) Non novi hominem." Et introductus est Petrus in domum. Cum sederet ad ignem cum servis et ministris, ut calefaceret se, alia serva ait illi: (71) "Et tu cum Jesu Nazareno eras?" "O mulier, non eram, non novu hominem." Tunc interrogavit eum cognatus ejus cujus abscidit auriculam, dicens: (Cognatus Malchi): "Nonne te vidi in horto cum eo? Nonne tu percussisti Malchum? Vere tu eras." (Ostiaria, Ancilla): "Nonne tu Galileus es? Vere tu es." (73) "Nam et loquela tua manifestum te facit. Tu es discipulis hominis istus." (Petrus): "Non sum. Vere non eram. Nescio quid dicitis." English translation When Jesus had dined and he had given them his body to eat and his blood to drink, they went out together to the mount of Olives. Jesus said to them: "You will all be offended for my sake, this night. For it is written: I will smite the shepherd and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered." But Peter, replying, said to him: "Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended." "Verily I say unto thee, Peter, that this night, before the cock crows, thou shalt deny me thrice." "Ah! Lord! Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee." Likewise all the disciples said "We will not deny thee." Lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves ran up to Jesus and held him, and seeing this, the disciples fled. And Peter stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck a servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. Jesus said to him: "Peter, put away your sword. Do you not wish me to drink the cup that my Father has given me?" Therefore the soldiers of the Jews took Jesus and bound him and led him to the chief priests. Peter followed at a distance, even to the house of the bishop. A doorkeeper saw him and said to him: "Are you not also a disciple of that man?." "O woman! I am not. I do not know the man." And Peter enered the house. As he sat by the fire with the servants and soldiers to warm himself, another servant said to him: "Were you also with Jesus of Nazareth?" "O woman, I was not! I do not know the man." Then a relation of the one whose ear he had cut off questioned him: (Relation of Malchus): "Did I not see you in the garden with him? Did you not cut off Malchus' ear? Surely it was you." (Doorkeeper, serving maid): "Aren't you a Galilean? Surely you are." (73) "Even your accent gives you away. You are a disciple of that man." (Peter): "I am not. Surely I was not. I don't know what you are talking about." (74) And immediately the cock crew. Then Jesus looked at Peter and Peter remembered the words of Jesus, and he went out, and wept bitterly.

French translation Jésus dîna et donna à ses disciples son corps à manger et son sang à boire, puis ils allèrent au mont des Oliviers. Alors Jésus leur dit : Tous vous souffrirez du scandale à cause de moi cette nuit. Car il est écrit : Je frapperai le pasteur, et les brebis seront dispersées du troupeau. En réponse Pierre lui dit : même si tous se scandalisent à cause de toi, jamais moi je ne me scandaliserai. - Amen, je te dis, Pierre, que cette nuit, avant que le coq chante, trois fois tu me renieras. - Ah Seigneur ! même si cela devait me mener à mourir avec toi, je ne te renierais pas. Les autres disciples dirent de même. Voici que Judas, l'un des douze, vint là, avec une foule nombreuse avec des épées et des bâtons, et ils se jetèrent sur Jésus et s'en emparèrent. Voyant cela ses disciples s'enfuirent. Et Pierre, étendant la main, sortit son glaive, et, frappant un serviteur du grand prêtre, lui coupa l'oreille. Sur quoi Jésus dit : remets, Pierre, ton épée à sa place. Le calice que mon Père m'a donné, tu voudrais que je ne le boive pas ? Les chefs des Juifs appréhendèrent Jésus et le lièrent, et comme il était conduit chez le grand prêtre, Pierre suivait de loin, jusque dans l'atrium. Le voyant, la portière lui dit : N'étais-tu pas un des disciples de cet homme ? - O femme, ce n'est pas moi, je ne connais pas cet homme. Et Pierre fut conduit dans la demeure, et s'assit devant le feu avec le personnel pour se chauffer, quand une autre servante lui dit : et toi, tu étais avec Jésus de Nazareth ? - O femme, je n'y étais pas, je ne connais pas cet homme. Alors un parent de celui à qui il avait coupé l'oreille l'interrogea, disant : N'es-tu pas de Galilée ? Tu l'es, tu y étais. Ne t'ai-je pas vu dans le jardin ? - Je n'en suis pas ... - N'est-ce pas toi qui a frappé Malchus ? - Vraiment je n'y étais pas. Je ne sais pas ce que tu veux dire. - Ton aspect le manifeste bien, tu es un disciple de cet homme. - Je ne le suis pas, je ne le fus ni n'en étais. Je ne sais pas ce que tu veux dire, je ne connais pas cet homme. Aussitôt le coq se mit à chanter. Alors Jésus regarda Pierre. Pierre se souvint des mots de Jésus et, sortant dehors, pleura amèrement.
