Mentre belle signore, in questi lieti giorn' errand' andate,
i cori e l'alm' altrui lasso anno date,
e son si cari i nodi e le catene
ch'ogn'un brama per voi viver in pene.
L'alto vostro sembiante, e'l portamento altier ogn'hora danno,
ai tormentati cori e doglia e affanno,
e cosi dolci son questi tormenti,
che di sempre languir vivon contenti.
Ma se belle pietose, a tante pene havest' il seno,
di vero Amor, e fortunati Amanti,
foran stati? quai piu giocondi pianti.
