General Information

Title: Missa Dum Sacrum Mysterium
Composer: Robert Carver

Number of voices: 10vv   Voicing: SATTB.SATBB

Genre: SacredMass

Language: Latin
Instruments: a cappella
Published: 2001

Description: As is written proudly on the first page of this mass in the Carver Choirbook, the young Scottish monk Robert Carver composed it at the age of 23. As Carver's date of birth is not clear, which occasion the mass was written for is a mystery. The musical language is exuberant with much interplay between the two soprano parts. Like many masses of Britain at this time there is no Kyrie. (The music is in A3 format because of an old Finale bug and can be safely reduced to A4 without eyestrain).
