Description: First published in Andrew Law's Select Harmony, 1779. Words by Isaac Watts, 1706, poem entitled Confession and Pardon, with eighteen stanzas. Brownson used Watts' third stanza in his composition; other stanzas are either inappropriate here or have a different meter.
