Italian text O felice, o chiara notte, di quel lume sei feconda, ma l'è l'aurora, l'è l'aurora più gioconda, più ridente del mattin. Su pastori, e non dormite, che l'è l'ora di vegliare! Ma quelle voci, quelle voci son partite, fanno presto a ritornar. Su pastori, alla capanna, su venite e non tardate! Le vostre agnelle, vostre agnelle abbandonate, Dio dall'alto veglierà.

English translation O happy, o clear night, Of that light you are fruitful, But the dawn, The dawn is more joyous, More charming than morning. Come now, o you shepherds, do not sleep, For it is time to watch! But those voices, Those voices are gone, They quickly come back. Come now, o you shepherds, to the hut, Come on and do not delay! Forget, Forget your lambs: God will watch from above.
