Porgetemi la lira, vaghi fanciulli
e'l mio bel plettro d'oro
che da quel verde alloro pende,
ora che la musa mia m'inspira:
ch'io chiami a far ritortorno il sol
ch'apporti un lieto e chiaro giorno.

English.png English translation

Give me the lyre, graceful boys,
and my fine golden plectrum
that hangs from that green laurel,
now that my Muse inspires me:
that I can invoke the sun to return
to bring a merry and bright day.

Thanks to Andrea Friggi for the English translation.
