Description: The Three cuadernos are a compendium of villancicos by the spanish born composer Juan Gutierrez de Padilla who served as chapel meister in the Church of Puebla in Mexico after the death of Gaspar Fernandez, contributing to the musical culture of his time.

The compendium includes the villancicos "a la Jacara Jacarilla", Tambalagumbá, as well as and many other pieces written in 1653, 1655, 1657. This important document, product of an important research project lead by musicolgist of different countries, bears account of the very active musical life in Mexico during the colonial period.
